My new bass project...

So I am going to put together another Jazz bass.

I'd like it to be a Fender tribute, so I'd like it period correct (except for playability, like neck contour, electronics.)

I really like burgundy mist. So I am going to go with that for sure.


And I like the matching headstocks of the 60's...

But I also really like block necks of the 70's...

My question is, did those two features ever meet up in the good old days, or was it a clean transition from matching headstocks to block necks?

Here's a photochop of what I'm thinking of doing...

Yes Indeed. Fender made this model from 66 to 76 the cbs era.
the color is rare. good luck with the project...

Definitely looks sweet, hope it turns out awesome. are you going for any kind of "relic" feel to it?
