p.s. You should try to find a Steinberger XP-2 for these projects! Really nice graphite bolt-on neck, and the bridges are just perfect, quite a bit nicer than the knock-off's, (even the Steiney licenced ones and the Spirit bridges.)
Is the string spacing at the bridge on a Hohner a bit narrow like a Steinberger (17mm), or is it the standard 3/4" (19mm)?

The SteinRay is gonna be very cool also!
Have you given any thought to a "Thunder-berger" build maybe? Perhaps the lack of a headstock would balance it much better!
Or better yet, you should just do a headless version of every great distinctive shaped bass ever!

I was planning on a trans-black as the grain is awesome on this piece of ash, but I have so many gaffes to fill due to my inexperience with the router that it needs to be a solid finish. I am leaning towards another flip-flop.

My last build was a Musicman style bass to use a Westone neck I had lying around. It resulted in the "WestRay"
I mixed up the look of the four string Stingray with the Pickgaurd design of the 5 string Stingray. That was admittedly done out of lazyness: I didn't want to look around for that hard to find metal control plate. It has a Kent Armstrong pickup that's currently passive but even without a pre-amp, it already has that typically "Stingray" hi-fi toppy sound.

This build looks like it's gunna go down with the Rickenberger as my favorite builds on TB!!! Keep up the awesome work!

| | | WANT! That's amazing! I'd definitely rock that.
So, will this become a full series? Non-reverse Thunderberger?
EB-O-Berger? Buzzardberger? El-two-kay-berger?
I love me some headless bass (although the double ball-end strings are a beast to find). | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
