Swamp Ash body with Figured Maple top
Body contours on the front and back
Figured Maple Neck
Coco Bolo fingerboard
Maybe fretless?
Schaller Bridge and tuners
5 String P Bass PU's being wound by Kent Armstrong along with an overwound SS PU
Probably going to be a Burst of some sort

What do you guys think of the design?

Looks really cool. I'd be all over it if it wasn't a lefty.

Two-tone blueburst (cyan-blue) would look great with the top and the gold hardware.

My thoughts:

The left half of the lower bout is too small.
The taper from neck to body is too slow.
The headstock belongs to someone else.

Oh, and it's left handed

Lookin pretty good so far, but I'd have to agree on the neck transition being too gradual. Im not a fan of it on any guitars really. On a side note, I don't know that the headstock fits that body. There are some nice curves going on in the body that I would want to complement.

Any thoughts on colors for the burst?

I really like the body. The way you shaped the bottom (behind the bridge) so that the bass rests vertically against the wall is clever.

+1 about the headstock though. Unless it is the design you use for all your basses, i.e. the trademark shape, I feel you could get rid of the sharp angles which kinda conflict with the flowing body. Maybe round the edges? Just a thought.

Love the body though!

I've really struggled to find a headstock shape that I like that doesn't look like something else. I've seen so many basses that everything looks like something else. I have a headstock shape for my acoustics but not my basses!

I really like the body, but the head is... yeah, like it was on another bass. I would try to use some of the body's contours on the headstock, too. Maybe a little too big for this body. just my thoughts. I like the body shape very much!
just please don't "soften" the head's shape, as the body contours have nice, definite edges
IMO, of course.

I thought about just putting a full radius on the headstock but I didn't like that much either. So this is what I came up with.

GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! 'tis upside down

In other words, it looks fairly brilliant!

For some reason the body wood looks pink in that pic.
