My second build

Sign in to disble this ad
I have had this build going on for about a month, and i have finished most of the wood work, although the back is desprately in need of attention (i am about halfway done carving the neck/body joint and the neck needs a few things worked out, especially up by the headstock). i also have 2 more that are in process, but i only have the bodies cut out, and the necks are getting planed down.

here are some specs for this bass (it does look like a guitar, but it should turn out pretty cool)

here are the specs:

Lacewood body
24 frets/ 30"scale
emg passive jazz pickups
purpleheart/maple neck
cocobolo fretboard

That's some nice looking lacewood you've got there. I hope it turns out ok, it looks great at the moment!

I love the fact that the sides are solid lacewood! I also really love the lacewood/purpleheart combination. I have an instrument w/ a lacewood top and p/heart fretboard, and I've always thought those two woods looked especially good together.

yeah i love lacewood. it is so nice to work with, it looks cool, its light, and its fairly cheap. i wasnt so sure about the cocobolo fretboard with the purpleheart at first, but it definately has grown on me.

Lacewood looks like quite a dense wood- is it heavy?

no lacewood is fairly light, and really easy to work with. this bass, so far weighs only 8 pounds.

Nice Bass dude, Lacewood looks awesome with the purple, I guess you have understood the importance of full length neck taper now...
