Need some Pau Ferro sawdust and wood glue...anyone?

Hey guys:

I recently picked up a used Tobias Killer B...I'm loving it, but there's a chip in the fretboard under the G-string between the 4th and 5th frets. I gather it must have fallen over and hit something sharp, and the wood chipped instead of denting since it's fairly hard wood. The chip is about the size of a pinky fingernail clipping...it doesn't seem to impact playability, but I'd still like to fix it.

So, my understanding is the best way to patch this would just be with a sawdust and wood glue mixture. I don't have any local source for Pau Ferro wood, and ordering a piece would be prohibitively expense (I'd have to order a whole fretboard, etc.)

Do any of you luthiers work with Pau Ferro and have access to some sawdust? I would be more than willing to pay for a small vial of Pau Ferro sawdust and appropriate wood glue mixture, or even just a vial of Pau Ferror sawdust. If you have this odd supply, let me know...I'll pay you any reasonable asking price for some help....I'll be happy to either PayPal ya or mail you a check.

Oh, if there's any other wood sawdust that you have that would match well, I'll consider that too.

TIA!
Dave

I'm radiusing a Pau Ferro fretboard in a couple of weeks, and can send you something then if you don't find a resource sooner. As I use various grits on a belt sander, this should be a good mix of particle sizes.

all the best,

R

Hey Dave.....if you would like, I have a gallon bag of dust and chips, I keep on hand for just such an emergency....Actually I have gallon ziplocs of 9 different woods that I use regularly.

Anyway, If you want to shoot me your address, I can get a small packet for your needs out to you. Do you want just dust, or shavings and dust?
