Sign in to disble this ad
I haven't posted here in awhile, but I have one bass done and am about to finish up another. Here are the specs:

5 String
Ecuadorian Rosewood top
Bubinga body
Wenge/Bubinga/Wenge/Bubinga/Wenge neck
Wenge fretboard
Seymour Duncan Basslines pickups
Seymour Duncan 2 band EQ with Slap Switch
All black hardware

Here is the blog for this bass:
http://homepage.mac.com/jcbasses/jcdch5.html

Fairly soon I should be done with a Buckeye Burl 5, it's in the finish stage. You can see the blog at http://www.jcbasses.com

That picture makes me nervous, with that gorgeous bass balancing on jagged rocks above water.

Another nice one.

This and the previous ones looked so nice and at home in that setting... I'm thinking a buckeye burl one will have to go somewhere else. Someplace with some green.

Like I have said before, it is perfectly safe on little pads and very stable.

I agree on the grassy area. Give it some more contrast. Thanks for the nice comments guys and here are a few more pictures to show the back and front in a more "safe" setting. I also added a blog of the progress for this bass to the first post, so check that out if you can.

That, is a gorgeous piece of wood, and I love the design as well, sophisticated, but not boring. I love it.

Since the customer wanted the pickups so close to the bridge it is very bright. Not too bright though IMO. The wenge/bubinga gives it a very nice growl on the low B string and E. I feel that the SD Basslines along with their preamp is one of the best combinations. You can get so many different sounds out of one bass. I like the slap feature, gives a really nice Flea sound fingerstyle. Thanks for the kind words Bill.

Absolutely stunning. I've loved them all so far, but the top on this one takes the prize.

Beautiful Instrument!

Very nice. How was it finished?

I'm inferring from the wood selection that this bass is probably heavy for its size. Any idea what it weighs?

Great job!

It has a simple satin polyurethane finish. I didn't have a chance to weigh it before it left my shop, but it definitely is HEAVY for a 5 string. I am guessing it is around 10-11 pounds maybe. All the more wood to add to the sound.

Nice how it's essentially a P bass body shape, but it doesn't give off the vibe of it being just a P shape at all, it looks really really classy...nice execution, very nice looking bass, I bet it sounds amazing. Nice work.
