Here's my latest attempt at a nice pickguard. I really dig this abalone material and the second layer color worked perfectly.

man, that looks wonderful. Abalone can get expensive, though. I recently had some new logos laser cut in abalone and MOP ...abalone is nicer by far.

Abalone is great, and it is a lot more versatile than people might imagine. For instance, I didn't have any idea it would look good on my Medallion gold fretless Bongo, but when my Candy Red came with an abalone guard I thought I might try it out. Now its the permanent look for my fretless.

Wilser, this ain't no real abalone for sure. This is a vinyl type product. I get this film in .030 thicknesses and then I laminate it to my acrylic underlayers. The result is a two piece construction that looks like 3 layers.

Sure - how about white MOP with a red stripe on that black body? I'll bring my chip samples to the GTG.
