Hi everybody.
After Jauqo's 15 string bass, I'm starting this new thread with a "more normal" instrument. We going to try to make a 7 string version of this bass:

The future owner of this instrument is Sean Farrell, aka Antares.
Thank you, Sean!
Of course, like all my basses, he choose all the personal specs of his instrument:

-7 string bass, doublecut shape
-35" scale
-Ebony Macassar fingerboard, 24 frets with side dots
-7 pieces thru neck: padouk - ebony
-3 pieces body wings: ebony top and back, padouk core
-Ebony headstock top, ebony electronic cover, padouk with ebony top knobs
-Bartolini G6 pickups
-Bartolini NTMB preamp
-Hipshot A bridge, 17mm string spacing
-Hipshot ultralite tuners
-Black hardware
-Graphite nut
-2 truss rods, graphite reinforced
-Nitrocellulose laquer finish
-Custom Case

Looks great Oscar. Very excited to watch this come to life.

For anyone checking in, Oscar is as good as they come. Absolute pleasure talking with and speccing this bass out. I'll be checking this thread constantly.

It all happened really quick. Simply saw the photo of the bass in the first picture and just sent him a PM and started talking.

After looking around i also remembered he had built your Epic creation, decided to do it.

It have a nitrocellulose finish, and first I use a waterbase grain filler.

Ok, so I'm starting to cut wood.
This padouk that I have is 50 years old, best quality. It is very resonant, and the grain is straight.
The ebony is around 15 years old, air dried.
The total width of this neck is 110mm.

Oscar,
You do B E A Utiful work. I love your designs and open mind about building. The body shape on that four is one of my absolute favorites.

Keep up the great work.

Best,
Justin

Thank you, Justin.
I have 4 different shapes right now.
Sean bass is the "original doublecut".
This is the "original singlecut":

This is the "classic":

This is the "fun single":

And I'm working in another singlecut...

Very cool shapes Oscar. I really like the look of the Classic double cut too. If I'm not mistaken, that is the shape JAUQO III-X's 15-string was, correct?

Back on topic. This bass is going to be beautiful, and I'm sure it will play effortlessly and sound fantastic.

Best,
Justin
