New six string build (pictures)

Sign in to disble this ad
started out with cocobolo front and back, padouk body, and maple neck with padouk
I used a two thin maple sheets as well in the body to define the padouk and cocobolo

body being glued

body laying beside the neck after glue job on all three pieces
after this i added some padouk on the inside of the body to give it more width

sanding for the headstock angle
and after routing with truss rods.

headstock top (cocobolo)

body shape on the wood (my own design). Originally this isnt what i planned (if you notice the paper cutout is slightly different from the cut) but i thought the sharp edge on the right horn looked kind of cool. reminds me of a rickenbacker maybe

after the horns cut and then the fretboard (rosewood) put on. I have yet to taper it so right now the fretboard is huge.
I left the sides uncut to give myself a larger surface to clamp when i put the body on and when i route for the electronics.

still got a ways to go but its gettin there! this is my first build but i have a luthier helping me along the way. I plan on putting q tuner BL-6 pickups in it and haven't quite decided on a bridge or tuning machines yet. i'll post more when i finish. tell me what ya think!

It appears that you have to be logged in to view them, which may explain why you can view them. Try uploading them to a server and then linking them to this thread. You can open a photobucket account or use tinypic for free (but you don't have control over them with tinypic)...
