new switch installed, wonderin about installing kill switch also

Sign in to disble this ad
hey, i just got this switch installed on my bass and it just cuts off the volume when flicked down and turns it back on when its flicked up. anyways i was watching a vid of buckethead and i realized i may have gotten the wrong thing. what i wanted was an effect sounding like tom morello (rage, audioslave)'s "arm the homeless" guitar. i didnt see a kill switch on that guitar so i just decided maybe he just flicks it up and down real fast to get that steady hummingbird sound effect. so my question is can i get a kill switch installed on my bass while the other switch is still in effect? sorry if this sounds kinda confusing. oh yeah i am still confused about the difference between what a kill switch does and a toggle switch.

any help is appreciated.

tom morrello has what you have. he uses the pickup selector to get that sound.

To work properly, the hot has to be sent to ground when the toggle switch is in OFF mode. Otherwise you'll get buzzing.

Tom Morello also has a "touch pad" on one of his guitars that does the same thing, might be the one you're thinking of. A whole 'nuther animal.

FWIW you can also wire up a button to do this, and you can wire it up so that you get either silence or sound when you push it.
