The winners are...<drum roll>...

Pilotjones and Cerb!

The name is a combination of their submitals.

It shall be called... "Transversus Rex" ...

...or the TRX, or the T-REX.

I really liked pilot's "Slant King". I couldn't verify Cerb's claim of "Transversus" meaning "slanted" in latin, but I still liked the word. Every latin translator I could find on the net said that "obliquus" was latin for "slant" or "slanted". However I found something very interesting. The fibers in the transversus abdominis, a muscle on the sides of your stomach fan out just like the frets on the bass (pics here). This illustrates the meaning of the word "transversus" more precisely rather than just being slanted and explains exactly what's going on with the frets on the bass. Of course "Rex" is latin for "king".

So congratulations guys! PM or email me your addresses and I'll send you your strings. I've only got one set each of the 40-120's, the 45-125's and the 45-130's. The first guy I here from gets first choice.

<game show voice on>
Thanks for playing. Hope you had fun and have a nice day!

Heard from pilot. He gets the 45-125's. Cerb, you can have the 40-120's or the 45-130's.

Boy, that makes me a year past my prime. No harmonic convergence.

I know, my mind was pretty scattered during those days... I had to hit up PJ and Stuart at the Spector booth for one of their spare import 4 stringers...

I really would have liked to grab a cool bass (like a LeCompte bass) to have at the booth.

... guess we'll have to do that at the Anaheim NAMM Show in January!
