Question Newb in need of assistance

so yeah I'm 17 and I'm looking to start getting into some bass building. I'm working with Devon Mullin out of Milwaukee a bit, but most of the body work is going to be done by me. I was wondering which would be the best wood for a Jazz/Funk sound?

You should move this to the Gallery Hardwoods forum. Oh, wait a sec...

My opinion is this: you'll have more success achieving the tone you want through selection of the right pickups and electronics. Having said that, ash or alder may get you closer to what you're looking for.
