I went to a yardsale this morning and this guy had a big electric motor screwed into some 1x6's so I flipped it over and he had it set up as a really nice stationary sander. I got to talking to him and he said his nephew used to live with him and do woodworking. So I told him I'd take it from him ($10 bucks, not bad)...but then he asked me what I liked to build and I told him I was trying to start building guitars. He told me to come around to the side of his house that he had something I might like...Come to find out his nephew worked at the Gibson custom shop in nashville and had some "scrap" mahogany laying around...Plenty for prob. 10 bridge blanks, 2 peices that could easily be used as mandolin neck blanks, and plenty that is big enough for making knobs...Then I noticed a bunch of jigs laying there and I asked if I could buy them off of him and he said that they were no good to him just to take them...so I got a tapering jig and several others, a box of mahogany, and a nice sander for $10 bucks...All in all a good day

that's pretty cool!!! can you post a pic of that sander? I just finished my thickness sander and I am already starting to plan on an edge sander.

nice build wilser...it's nothing that fancy but it'll do for some rough sanding...I will post pics later (on my way to nashville now)
