Noob question about bass body design

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all,

In the near future i hope to build myself a new bass. I was just curious to know how to go about designing the body of the bass? I have some ideas of what i want, but i am not sure how to convert it to a larger scale.

also, is there any place to go to get dimensions, and plans for bass guitars that have been built or is that a no no?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

you can get a lot of information by googling different measurements. Try "Nut width of 4 string bass" or "Neck thickness at nut" or "Body width of Jazz bass" etc and you can kind of compile a good list. Melvyn Hiscocks book is a must have as well.
