One thing I like is originality. You got it. Big fan on black with black hardware and black coat strings.

I still need to buy some ultralite tuners in black...

Basic info - Warmoth deluxe 5 neck & body, body is swamp ash/maple, neck is maple ebony
Gotoh bridge, Seymour Duncan stacked jazz pickups, Audere classic preamp, DR Black Beauties (45-125's).

I've had the parts for a while but was not motivated to play fretless until recently - picked up an Ibanez GWB-35 and liked it, finished up this one, and bought a GWB-1 that is coming Monday. I have some decisions to make!

Yeah I noticed the headstock hardware is still chrome. With some black tuners it will pop out against the pale headstock. That bass has "Class" Very rare do I like Jazz shaped basses. I am digging yours.

Well, if I had taken less than 6 years to finish putting it together (5 digital cameras before I got the Nikon) I probably would have had pictures. I had HORRIBLE luck with the camera's - Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, Kodak all died on me - anyone want a "dead camera" collection?

Bummer...well, any other pics you have or any other work you do you can take a few pics and post them here (just amend the original post).

That body looks great. I gotta say, that bass is crying out for a black headstock veneer or paint.

Nice lookin' bass. Did you do the finish yourself, or did it come like that from Warmoth? Sorry to hear about the cameras. You should tell us about your adventure in building though!

(Don't think thread violates terms of use...he's not a commercial builder.)

You know what's funny, that fact doesn't bother me too much on this bass. Maybe it is the lack of stain or color on the headstock, or something I don't grab at the moment. Normally, that would not make me happy (black bridge and chrome tuners).

I really like the choices that you made on this bass. It looks really nice. I honestly didn't even notice the different color tuners on the headstock at first.

Nope, NOT a commercial builder - just a hack bassist. With too much gear...
typical, huh?

I will definitely be selling the GWB-35 - not sure about the price... then I need to decide between the GWB-1 and the Warmoth. It will come down to which feels better.

It would really complete the look, wouldn't it? I was thinking the same quilted veneer and finish on the headstock would be killer! That is still a fantastic bass!

And there is no shame in a parts build. There are bassists of many years who still cannot set up their own instruments let alone change a knob. Your bass build is light years beyond that!

Yep, so far I've decided I need to be a LOT taller and grow another set of arms so that I can do duets by myself! VBG!

It will probably be a month or more...
