Other than when it initially starts..... This thing is very quiet, can't even hear it with the dust collector running. This one came with 60/80 grit paper on the drums, so it does come out with minor scratches, but nothing that can't be taken out with a random orbital..... It only takes 1/8th turns on the crank, to raise up the conveyor and pass it through the same height adjustment 2 or more times, before raising the conveyor again. All in all, grizzly gets an "A" on this one.... Gotta get some pvc fittings, to tie both of these dust ports together though....If you do get this one, make sure you buy the "shop fox" mobile base for it, especially if you intend on moving it (450lbs), it was necessary to move it, in my situation.

Went ahead and bought some aluminum oxide cloth backed paper (better quality than the one that came on it).....
Rod,I don't know how detailed this is:
All in all, I've ran a a dozen or more through it, it does a good job, pretty accurate from one side to the other (by like .01mm, by my measurements). If you're looking for a bigger drum sander at a decent price, this one is a good choice.

R | Nope. The hold down rollers do a pretty good job on both ends, even without an infeed and outfeed table, if it's a longer piece, like 6' or greater I'll feed it till the piece reaches the end hold down roller, then I just give the outfeed side a little under support...(I clean the rollers off after every use...... They get quite a bit of dust on them).
The only have snipe issues I have, is on my planer. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
