nut advice??

Sign in to disble this ad
i am about to build a 6 string bass and need to know where i can buy a big enough nut... i want it to have the same feel as my 5 string, so using the same string spacing, it should be a 50 mm nut.
i 'm going to use graphite as its apparently pretty decent and its the right colour.

also any advice on how to file it out would be appreciated.. i think ill buy a couple nuts in case i mess up.

... sure that wouldn't be a 5 cm nut? If you're looking at 50 cms then you're talking about an average distance of about 9.6cm between the strings taking everything into account... you must have huge hands. I bet you could pull off a 1-15 fret reach with those pointers. I envy you

Graphtec makes them, you could try contacting them directly or through a distributer. My most recent build I'm using Ziricote wood to try for a nut on a fretless project.
Good luck,
Dirk
