That's a dead spot, just not as severe... yet. The tone of the bass will change over the coming weeks and months. Mine all start out really bright and then mellow out some and get warmer in the low end.

If you had graphite or a other stiffener all the notes would be even because you will have shifted the resonant frequency of the neck, which is where it absorbs energy up above the pitch of any of the notes.

There's a science to all this. Don't get emotional about it and think single pieces of wood are somehow better or more organic. The only difference between a single and 5 piece neck is the laminated neck is stiffer and more stable. Stiffer necks lack those weak notes you are hearing.

Truss rods are a passing fad.

hehehe... i like it!!!

i guess you could find dead spots on all types of necks... if you would like to call them, they just appear some times more sometimes less pronounced or sometimes not at all... and of-course on different spots of the neck... i am just reminding that anything can work OK not dependent on the method but of the skill and materials you use or better... choose!!!

if you do things one by one, like each unique, results are unpredictable in the first place... so it may seem

but even when you see big series production that are made from the same materials the same measurements, craftsmanship... all that and still you get only 50% or less good pieces out...

so chances are that if you do each one unique you're more likely to get it right?!
