I know that separately ovangkol and wenge are 2 of the most popular high-end neck woods, but has anyone here used them both in the same neck??
They both produce really nice tones in an instrument, so naturally I was wondering what it would sound like to combine their tonal qualities…
If the answer to the above question was yes, what was it like??
Of course! Most modern Warwicks, my SSII included, feature ovangkol necks with wenge fretboards ;-) Sounds good! Hard to say what the characteristics of the combo are though, as they can't be separated from the rest of the body's influence.
Imagine that but with wenge and ovangkol instead of maple and purple heart. Thats the kind of thing I'm wondering about.
