I don't think anybody makes planetary gear setups for bass. I know there's that one company who makes them for guitar, but I'll be honest- those are a PITA to use, and never really caught on with guitar players.

Any reason why the trusty and technically-much-more-mechanically-stable worm gear setup is not preferable?

Hi.

Like the banjo tuners?

Like these:http://www.highlystrung.co.uk/acatal...lin_Banjo.html

You can try and find a Gibson Firebird tuners, those aren't planetary, but have all the necessary downsides that comes with the design.

Worm/wheel= the only way to go, really. No downsides I can think of, and many advantages over any other machine head design.

Regards
Sam
