is it possible to remove fretlines on an SX

is it? im thinkin bout getting a Fretless P bass off of rondo and i was hoping to sand off the fretlines. im plannning on getting one with a Maple fretboard

Im sure it is, but it would be a lot of work for an SX, price wise.

It is possible, but you can't just sand them off. Imagine the slots left from the frets. The fret lines are just strips of wood filling those slots.

Your options would be to either clear out the slots and re-fill them with matching wood, or do an epoxy/ebonized covering to make the whole fretboard dark. There is a great example of the ebonizing in one of the threads in this section... I'll try to find it for you.

I don't like the fret lines on the fretless SX's either. I was looking at the Douglas they have without fret lines. A few more bucks...but looks like decent build quality. Might save you money and time in the long run.
