Question Question about pots ...

Yes - I tried to do a search

Question -

I am in the process of upgrading an SX bass. One of the things I've heard is that they have substandard pots.

Through my searching on TB, I've learned that an active bass needs 25K pots where a passive bass (like mine) needs 250K pots.

This is my question: A TB'er has some 500K pots for sale that I am thinking of buying. Will those suffice or must I use 250K's?

(FYI, I'm also upgrading the pups to SD Basslines)

I welcome your responses!

OK, so you tried to do a search.........................250K for single coil, 500K for humbuckers. CTS pots are good, but you will need an extra nut for each pot to lower the pot into the body. Otherwise the knobs will stick out too far. Just be sure you have two nuts for each pot and you'll be fine. The SX nuts are too small.
