He also owns the maple burl topped single cut that I originally built for myself. It's very easy to tell that this man lives and breathes bass guitar it's an honor for me to build him a new custom. Very nice, Scotty.
Edit: I know this one's not camphor, but to me it does suggest it.

You make some really nice basses really fast. At the risk of sounding like a stuck CD, could I ask what machine tools do you use? Bandsaw, jointer, table saw? What sizes?
Cheers!

Cheers! | Yep, most of my unique figured stock comes from Fraser Valley Fine Woods located in Canada, you can't beat their value and service.
My power tool collection is still growing but a quick run down would go like this.
6" jointer
13" Planer
14" band saw with 6" riser
1/2" Table router
1/4 & 1/2" Hand held routers
10" table saw (never really found the need for a bigger one )
36" benchtop belt sander with 6" disk(this one I need to upgrade!)
Oscillating drum sander drum sizes range from 1/2"-2" diameter
An old school black and decker palm sander.
"Mouse" detail sander
Jig saw
Skil saw
Bench top drill press (another that needs a bigger replacement)
Home built metal lathe 4" chuck 24" between centers ( I sooo want a new one! )
Then there are lots of hand tools, jigs and templates.

Front, (notice my old school cheap-o Black and Decker sander, in the background it's been with me since the start.)
Back, I went ahead and routed the cavity and fitted the cover.
and a nice and blurry photo of the scroll carving in progress. My camera hates me...

Loving your work! I'm newish here but having been browsing for a while haha. I just checked out your site - you have produced some great basses mate.
May I ask quickly, the prices you have on your site are in USD I imagine - what would the price of a 4 string basic ($1600 USD) be in the good old AUD (Australian Dollar).
Sorry to hijack your thread and if you feel as though this is PM worthy then swing us a PM. I'm quite interested
Peace!

Hi Tom, I'm sure it's against forum rules to discuss prices in threads so I'll send you a PM. Thanks for your interest.

And I look at the same Ebay seller's stuff, how are they to deal with? |

They mostly have maple stuff. Anything exotic I usually resaw myself.

The board is sized and tapered, then I routed the channel in the back of the board for the fibers to run through. I also marked and drilled the side marker holes.
This bass will have white side markers with fiber optic centers. Here the white markers are installed. I'll post more on the material I used and how I did this in the pictorial.
