? regarding nitro paint

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a new Fender Highway One J body in that translucent Red color they do. I want to paint it in Sea Foam Green and need to know if I need to completely strip the old paint or if I can just sand it down a bit so it is scuffed up?

Thanks

Just sand the surface to rough it up with 320 sandpaper, spray it with B.I.N.s White shellac primer, sold at Home Depot- It will seal the old finish from seeping through. Spray one coat, dry sand, then spray another coat, dry sand again and your good to go for the nitro.
