remembering the turkey bass

given that it's thanksgiving and all, I thought it would be relevant if I posted a pic of this bass I built a couple of years ago, which Larry Davis christened 'the dead turkey' and I named the 'turkey boy'.

Given the traditional fate of turkeys, this one was no exception and has since met his maker ...just kidding, just took it apart to do a refin and build a new, tougher bridge for it.

It had a nice fretless P tone, reminiscent of the bass sound in 'hey you' by pink floyd. I can't wait for it to be reborn ...oh wait, this is a turkey, not a phoenix!

Mike Ogle, you remember this one?

I remember gasing for one while you were building it. Now I've caught another case of gas. Thanks...

Thumbs up

When I saw the title, I asked myself, wow is it a new brand from my country that I'm not aware

And yes I have heard enough jokes about this Turkey issue. If I've put one cent every time I've heard this, I could possibly afford that beauty now.

In Turkish we call the country as "Türkiye (Turkiye)". The funny side to tell is, in Turkish we call India as "Hindistan". And "hindi" means turkey in Turkish so hindistan means something like "the land of turkey(bird)". Although the name is coming from "Hindu"s.

We don't celebrate thanksgiving but I wish you have a good one
