Removing a glued in neck.

It's a standard bolt on neck pocket, but it was glued in, and bolted. I used titebond glue. Anyone have any clue about how to get this apart without destroying my neck or body.

If titebond can melt, then i suggest using something warm to scrape it out

Heat and moisture, some kind of thin blade to wedge in, and lots of time and patience.

You're going to need a serious amount of heat. A properly glued joint with Titebond probably won't release until it gets up around 250 - 300 F.

Things start to move around 225 but you have probably 3/4" or more of wood from either direction to heat through to get to that point. Not sure how you are going to get the heat inside the neck pocket.

Somehow you also need to get the screws out before you can get a hot knife into the neck pocket. You've also probably got glue on the sides of the neck pocket so it will not be as simple as a single-seam butt joint like a fingerboard.

You sure you need to get this neck out of there?

Yeah, I may not bother. We'll see how it goes. It may come out by itself if I didn;t glue it right (I hope.)

I think Stewmac have some special tools. Like a tiny tube and/or wedge that leads the vapour directly to the glue, and also is used to remove the glue and to some extent wedge the joint apart.
The method is used frequently in acoustic luthierie.

The standard set-up is:

-Espresso maker, rubber hose on the steamer, basketball needle on the end of the hose. Good for getting underneath after you've used....

-Metal spatula (like paint scraper or trowel) and heat gun to heat it up with. Good for working around the acessible edges.

Because you have a bolt-on neck pocket, this should be infinitely easier than if you were removing the neck from an acoustic or les paul.
