| Well I'll offer up a few ideas for you. First off, if you are trying to save the veneer from chipping more, cover the exposed edges until you are ready to start stripping the finish.
You will need to use a "Low Tack" tape preferablly. Scotch tape works well for the short term, for longer term, try Scotch GREEN painters tape. The edges snag on your gig bag, and will continue to chip off if you do not cover those edges. As for veneers, you just have to type veneer into your web browser, and you will find many sources. At the point your bass is at, I would look at stripping it, patching the veneer and sealing it, and then applying a new finish. It may take away from the value a bit, but would prevent it from losing more veneer, and make it playable for many more years. good luck to you.
