I got my project RB850 in!

And the case is not as funky smelling as the seller let on. Don't even think it needs any Febreeze! I'll post some pics later this morning for sh*ts and giggles!

If it weren't for the chunks out of the jack area I'd probably just give it a good cleaning. I am going to keep it purple with the black hardware. Might go with recessed Dunlop strap locks because I like 'em but those bat wing's are pretty cool and this has both of them.

One more thing, this is light! 7.5 lbs!

Got the jack tightened in, cleaned and oiled the fretboard and slapped on an old set of DR's I had laying around last night. Plugged it in and was instantly gratified with the tone coming out of it. Deep and punchy and with a couple turns of some knobs goes to some real cutting funk tones. + all points in between! Really powerful pickups and amazing versatility from a passive bass.

I am bringing it to our next practice this week and maybe even our gig Saturday nite. Give it a last hurrah before I start pulling it apart to work on.

There's a nice white one for sale in the clasifieds here for 300.00. You wouldn't have to work on that one!

As an aside...

Anyone know where to get a Roadstar truss cover? Or maybe 2?

Both my basses have their rods hanging out.

I would try Repro guitar parts:
http://reproguitarparts.com/#!/~/cat...=0&sort=normal

You may have to email them for your specific cover.

Just got back from our gig. I brought the RB with me and played it 2 sets. Had great tone and a healthy thump after I got it dialed in on the amp settings. Played it thru my Streamliner 900. Set the amp with a bump in the upper mids and wham! There it was. Even beat up it is a great playing bass. It's a keeper!

I hear you! The OP hasn't been on the board since July 10th. Bummer.

On the Plus side, I am starting on mine over the Christmas break so maybe we can cure our withdrawls that way.

Is there a Talkbass council of elders? Could they commission a private investigator? I'd pay for that.

Well, there are a few things, but this ranks.

I was hoping to see this completed.
