Rickenbaker fretboard material

I'm wanting to reproduce a Ric. can anyone tell me what they use for their fingerboard to get that kind of orange tinge.Any help would be appriciated.

I think it's Ebanol.

Isn't Ebonol a synthetic subsitute material for ebony?

I believe Rickenbacker uses rosewood for their fingerboards.

Early Rics used a variant of cocobolo if I am not mistaken...red, almost orange in color, and coated to stop oxidization. Not sure about the new ones though.

Rosewood is awful general.There is a ton of vairietys of it.

Yes, it's definitely bubinga. My co-worker used to work for Rickenbacker and one of my bosses actually did the initial programming for their CNC's. We even have an old sample fingerboard laying around the shop somewhere.

Ric currently lists that they use rosewood on 4003s. They have in the past used Bubinga. I have read that they also in the past used Vermillion, which, I think, may be another name for padauk.

Yes vermillion is padouc and bubinga is also referred to as african rosewood.
