In search of wood

I'm gonna be making a custom wooden pickguard for my P-Bass, but I'm not sure what kind to use.





I was thinking about cocobolo or a stained Oak.

Cocobolo is a nice option. Some burl would look killer too...

if you want to use a very thin piece of wood, laminate it to a thin piece of plastic before you cut it out. It makes the whole process much easier.
