Please, take a guess. I'll say this, I'm going to be building very high end guitars, full-time. I cannot tell you how incredibly excited I am.
So... take a guess

I graduated from RV in February, and I did well enough that they asked me to stay on and help teach at the school. So I helped teach the next class which ended on June 29th. I'm back in NY for now, but in a couple of weeks I will be heading to this job
I want a few more guesses

| | Craftsman | | Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Fort Montgomery, NY | | | Looks like I'm going to be working in the body department, but the production manager told me that he was going to push me because of the bit of experience I already have. Sounds like I'll be bending sides, kerfing, maybe braces, probably gluing tops and backs, routing binding, sanding the bodies out... and that's just in my department!
I'm excited that I'll get moved around... I'll be able to learn way more that way! It's a small group, they only had 10 people working for them when I went for the interview. They're putting out 1 guitar a day right now, trying to bump it up to 2 a day.
It's still a little bit surreal that it's actually happening! I had never been to Savannah before, and everyone had told me it was beautiful... and they were right! Holy cow! Definitely a beautiful little city!

Savannah isn't too terribly far away from ATL, maybe one weekend or something I'll drive down there and check it out.
Great to see you got a job, I know you'll be doing what you love.
Congrats
Greg

Fantastic accomplishment! | That would be quite an honor!
You know, at RV they teach you how to write up a good resume and send them out and all that stuff... you know I never even sent my resume to Benedetto?
I started out by just emailing them, Cindy Benedetto to be exact (that's Bob's wife, she helps run the business). It wasn't really formal at all, I just used good grammar and told them who I was, where I was at the time, and what I wanted to do. They told me they didn't have any positions at the time but I was persistent. There's a fine line between persistent and annoying as heck, but I stayed off of the annoying side. Just made sure they knew I was still interested.
Turns out they wanted me to set up an interview, do my pre-employment paperwork and drug test and offered to take me out to lunch!!! Stopped by on my way back to New York from Arizona. The interview was this past Tuesday, and they emailed me telling me I got the job yesterday
There's a lot to be said for being polite, well mannered, and confident. (Not cocky though!)

What is this RV? Is it a school for guitar building?
I'm currently going to school for Music Ed. But I have always been interested in guitar building, and am very interested in learning the trade.
Congrats on the job too! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
