got the body sanded and dyed, the effect I was going for was a dark burgandy color with darker ghost flame type figure. Very Subdued look initially, but very impactful in person. This took me better than a month to get right. I am including both Low res phone pics to show more of the color, and higher res camera pics to show the effect, but it washes out the red/violet color a bit.
fully dyed
pics of the neck and body in the booth with first few sealer coats, this is where the grain effect starts to show.
more to come |

The pics does not do any justice and the neck is a work of art, it's not chunky at all, and the attention to detail really is super top notch.
Who ever get this bass will have a well crafted instrument from a very talented luthier. |

The idea Jauqo and I agreed upon was to make an 8 that looked and played like a high end Boutique ERB, but be sold at a Mail Order price. Hopefully this ends up fitting those parameters. |

So far it's been a great experience pushing some of the limits of what I am able to do with the ERB platform. I have a couple more I will be posting as I get them going. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
