How does the Mighty Mite neck play? I've ordered one and I'm wondering if the low price effects the playability.

Dude seriously, you will not believe how good these necks are, (for that price) that's all i can say, just let me know when you get yours, (people often complain about fret job, but mine is just perfect, no flaws)

I started today with the belly cut, here, cutting and making the line provided by the plans:

Here working on the belly cut (these was labor intensive)

After half day working only in this area, the result went pretty good:

Next day, i started working on the neck pocket, i cut that section from the plan, and adhered in a MDF that has center lines, so i can use it for guide, with the center line of the body and achieve the best aligment possible:

The template here is done (the rigth spot of the cutting is ugly because in that area i dont need precise lines because there will not be wood to cut) Double side tape, and ready for taking place in the body.

First pass (the depth should be 0.625", as suggested from Warmoth):

Done:

Checking out if the neck fits well, it was not perfect and tight as i wanted, but i will say 90% good:

Here i made the electronics cavity, but i forgot to take pictures of the process, the cavity is oversized for some personal reasons:

-Never liked the standart cavity sizes, are uncomfortable to work with

-The control plate it's going to have push/pull pots, so the depth is about 3mm, and i get plenity of space for the preamp

-I think it will reduce the weight a bit (hope it doesnt contribute to unbalance)

Checking the size along with the control plate:

Now with the push/pull pot:

... and fortunately fits well but i have only 1mm between bottom of the pot and the cavity, so i guess i'm not able to solder ground wires in that area

Making the battery cavity:

First pass is 2mm deep, thats for the rosewood cover (didn't have any material to put it)

The rosewood cover:

Battery cavity is done:

So this is the overall look of the body after almost all the neccesary drills:

Pulled out the original plastic nut, and made one from Ebony:

..and this was my first time working with ebony, and it is easy to get chips out, very delicate wood, and obviously i guess that it happened because of my inexperience, it went some how good, not perfect:

If you need to solder on the bottom of the push pull, maybe you can drill a little fox hole for it, not so far as to go through the body, but enough for the solder and wires to be comfortable.

Thanks FunkyMan! Looking good! Is that a Dremel you're using for Routing? If so, what bit did you use for the actual neck pocket after you did the MDF? I'm doing some inventory on my tools on what I need to use.

Great little build, though! Good job!

I used this bit (The second from rigth to left) but i have to mention that the neck pocket was drilled with a router, not the dremel!

If you've not already done so, do that belly cut to match YOUR Belly.

Nice project - nice work.

If you are capable of doing minor fretwork yourself they are a great deal. Every one I have used required some minor fret leveling, but after a bit of work they play great, and have been rock solid.

I once had a friend suggest I stick adhesive backed sandpaper to my belly and rub the instrument until it's a perfect fit.

Gave me pause to consider going on a diet.
