Takamine acoustic guitar: Fell over and broke at the headstock above the scarf joint. I bought it for $30 off Musician's Friend a few years ago knowing it had a broken neck, which I fixed and it held until one of our 3 cats knocked it over a couple of weeks ago. It's no biggie. I never really played it. I tried to learn guitar several times over the years, but frankly, my fingers are too long to play comfortably, so I'm going to make a new neck for it.
Cigar Box Mandolin: Yep. It was a 3-string cigar box guitar for a couple of years, but when the Takamine broke, I decided to salvage the neck for this project.
Travel Bass and Guitar: I started on these back in 2008 to take with me on a trip to San Francisco. I finished the bass just in time to take it with but not to test it. As it was, the strings kept breaking where it rounds the body. Only the E string survived tuning without snapping and was playable enough to test the piezo pickup and electronics.
