Thining a neck front to back - good idea?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys - I have an OLP that I've had apart for a while and I want to put it back together and use it as a backup bass tuned differently than my main bass. The problem is that I am used to flying on my Geddy lee sig bass. Would it be totally reckless to sand down the OLP neck front-to-back (not side to side) to something resembling the GL neck?

depends on the depth of the trussrod channel in the neck, and whether the resultant wood after reprofiling can take the load of the strings without popping the trussrod thru the back of the neck....otherwise, go for it.
