Thinking of building for the first time...
I recently found this nifty little thing on sale on Amazon:
Its basically a DIY kit for a headless bass. I've never built a full usable guitar in my life, and I thought this might be a good start.(I have an affinity of DIY). I have passable woodworking skills and I usually build and repair the furniture in my house. However, my skills in wiring and soldering are close to nil. Is wiring together a bass difficult in any way? Do I need to have special skills or a soldering iron alongside some trial and error will suffice? Has anyone have any experience with this DIY kit or similar kits? How is it?
Thanks for taking the time to read,
From the looks of it, it might be Chinese (Sunsmile's take on the same subject: http://www.ssmii.com/ArticleShow.asp?ArticleID=1929).
From what I've read, the quality is not too high: wooden parts don't fit very well together and hardware is made of cheap ass metals that don't work. So even if the woods are OK, you would still have to invest on proper hardware. And if you continue searching, you can find the same stuff for half the price, too.
