Tokai Hard Puncher Neck Issues

Sign in to disble this ad
i just got a Tokai h/puncher , i love the sound and feel of it. but i the neck is slighty bowed forward around the 12th fret area . i have adjusted the truss rod to try and level the neck out but it becomes to loose(the truss rod nut is at the heel of the neck) its not bad but i like a low action .its there a fix besides sanding down the neck and a refret . any help would be great

Sometimes you can loosen the truss rod completely, support the neck at the ends, clamp it into a back bow, then tighten the truss rod a bit. It doesn't always work, but it's worth a shot.

Got any pics that show the problem?

Another easy thing to try is to put heavier gauge strings on, this occasionally solves it...

You should be tightening the truss rod for forward bow.
Loosen the strings first. And as always with this type of thing. BABY STEPS....

push the string down at the first and last fret and see what kind of gap you have at the 12th fret. You should have a little but not much generally speaking. if its a bolt on and after all this you still hav problems you might want to see about pulling the neck to see if a shim can be removed from the pocket. Check your bridge saddles. Do they seem high? Low? somewhere in the middle is best as you can adjust for preference more easily.
