Tung Oil or Teak Oil

Sign in to disble this ad
I am using Pamele Sapele for (this wood is awsome looking with a finish on it) the top and back of my new bass and I was experimenting with Tung oil for the finish. The oil didn't dry after about eight hours. Would that be because of oil in the wood. The tung oil is old about 7years old. Or should I be using Teak oil? TKX Tom

If you are using pure Tung Oil it might take much longer than 8 hours to cure. It's also inevitably thick and oxidized if its 7 years old. Most of that stuff gets pretty ganky in a much shorter period of time and won't penetrate like it should.
