Hello I need some advice.
I just bought a piece of mahogany (sipo) to make a bass body on Ebay. It is approximately 59" x 7 1/2" x 2 1/8".
The ebay listing said that the piece had a slight twist. My thought was that I could just feed it through the planer a few times and cut it in half and build the body out of it.
Well, it's twisted all right, probably 1/2" from one end to the other.
So whats the best way to remedy this? I own a 13" power planer, a safe-T-planer, and a table saw, among other tools.
My thought is to cut two 24" pieces out of it, flatten it as much as I can with the safe-T-planer and then feed it through the planer.
I will be putting a top, and possibly a back, on this body, so I can go as thin as 1 3/8"
