types of neck finishes?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am working on a neck-thru bass for my son and we are planning on using McFaddens nitro laquer on the bass. We are shooting for a buffed out high gloss finish on the body but he wants the "quick feel" of an oiled neck.
You see this combination on bolt-on basses but I've not seen it on a neck through.
Does anyone have any ideas on a way to transition between the two? Or better yet, any idea of a way to get this feel from a laquered neck?
Thanks,
Joe
