Using bushings for screw holes?!!?
I saw a bass a while ago (and missed out on purchasing it) that seemed pretty neat. The builder had used threaded bushings (mounted flush into the body of the bass) wherever there were screws (neck pocket, bridge, pickups). Considering the wear and tear that does come from removing the cavity cover/pickguard, adjusting the neck (heel accessed truss rod), adjusting the pickups, etc; this seems like a great idea.
Anyone on here ever do this? If so, where would I procure such small bushings? How do you secure them into the wood?
I am trying to build a very resilient bass that can take major abuse and parts-switching (tour, recording, etc) and this is just one of several ideas that I would like to have become a reality
