Vinyl sealer and Polyurethane

Hey guys, ive been havig a rough time finishing a bass, mainly having problems with the cocobolo and padauk, yes I am aware that these two woods can be hard to finish and/or glue. Anyhow I used to use Minwax wipe on poly right out the can and onto the bass, no sealer, nothing, just about 6 coats of poly and never had a problem. Because of the coco and padauk, I wiped the entire bass with Acetone until my arms were numb, and just shot a nice coat of hybrid vinyl sealer I had (leftover from a kitchen project) My question is, after sanding and shooting another coat of sealer, can I apply wipe on poly afterwards? mainly because Im not well setup to shoot, and im not the most experienced finisher, I trust my good old technique with the wipeon. I have some Catalyzed lacquer but that stuff gets me stoned like a b***h, if I could avoid it, I would. Your thoughts?
