Wacky Jazz bass wiring schematic.

I'm hoping somebody here can help me out. I accidentally destroyed the preamp in my Dingwall Super J, so I've decided to re-wire it to better suit my own purposes.

I'd like to have a volume, tone, 3 way toggle for the pickups, and a series/parallel switch. I can't seem to find a schematic for such a beast. Could anybody here point me in the right direction?

I think I may have worked this out... it may not be perfect, and if the phase is wrong, swap the red and green wires on the DPDT switch... but this *should* do it, if I remember my electrical theory correctly.



Interested in unloading the Dingwall electronics? Does that by chance include the active treble boost/passive treble cut circuit?

Actually, I tested the whole thing and it seems only part that blew was a couple of optical sensors. I guess I could let go of the parts I'm not using anyway.

Thanks! I'll give that a go.

Regarding the old circuit - Sheldon Dingwall just sent me an email asking me not to part with it, as they worked very hard on the design and would rather not run the risk of anybody reverse engineering it. I'll just keep it just in case I decide to make it all original again.

That 4P3T switch can be had at Guitar Electronics (obvious URL) for about $20

If you build it, let me know if it works. I'm kinda curious, since I have never spec'd a circuit quite like it before.

I don't blame Sheldon for being secretive about that circuit. He's got a fair amount of R&D into it, IIRC.

I'm still a little fuzzy about where I'm going to stick the volume and tone knobs, but I'll futz with it and see if I can make a go of it. I'll let you know if it works.

Sorry I forgot to place those in the schematic...

I'd wire the volume control in place of the jack on the schematic (the hot and negative leads, I mean), and then wire the tone control and output jack normally...
