Well, that was a soul crushing repair

Sign in to disble this ad
My guitarist asked me to fix up a squire of his which "fell". Me, being the standup type guy I am, and i like fixing things, agreed to help him out, free of cost except for materials.

He hands me the squire which is held to gether with duct tape, apparently if he took of the tape, all the peices would fall apart, there is also a ziplock bag of asorted screw and hardware and chunks of wood .

I put it on my work bench and with the help of a friend, remove the tape and get to work gluing the body back together (it's in about 15 pieces) I get a call from the guitarist who informs me that he wants it to look as "bad ass" read ****ty as possible. that means no finish repair. I glued it all back together put some more finish on the neck and have started re assmbling the hardware, I just had to tell someone how bad I will feel calling it done while it looks so bad

but, "the customer is always right"

maybe it fell out the window of a condo on the 25th floor?

I'm speechless....Why didn't he crack the neck in half for you to repair?

Yours was Part 2

. . . of a two part customization. His "demolition" was Part 1.

Job well done!

you should have glued the upper horn pointing backwards or something

that would look real "badass"

the neck was suprissingly free of damage, which lends support to the "holding on to the neck while smashing it theory"

He said it's a Squier. So... no. Unless the goal (and it sounds like it) was to make it look cool.

I started thinking of ways to make it more tolerable (to me)
"what is my favorite looking guitar?"
"I like those alembics with the medalions under the bridge..."

IMO, even being a standup guy myself, would've refused to touch that thing.

There's a certain point where I don't want my name associated with anything.

Yeah, but I didn't realize it was something I wouldn't want to be assosiated with untill after I had done some work on it

That neck plate holding the body together is too funny!

You should be able to glue it back together with no problem... wont look good, but it should play ok.

it is glued back together, the neck plate serves no structural purpose

Ah, I see ... well why wouldn't the neck plate be on the heel of the neck where it does serve a purpose?
