What wood is this?

Can someone with experience tell me what wood this is?
To me it looks like Mahogany maybe? That gold sparkle throws me off. If more pics are needed, let me know.
It's from an Early model Honer B-Bass V.
Thanks alot.

Hard to say from those photos.

Looks a lot like the kind of blotching you see when someone tries to stain alder without sealing the wood first.

I'm reading that it is a Maple body and Maple neck thru.
Hmmm... All Maple?

That's what I was thinking. I don't think it's all Maple.

And to help you out further, The 1986 - 1993 Baron B Bass models were neck through Mahogany with Mahogany bodies changed to Maple in 1994 due to restrictions on Mahogany and the elevating price.

Hope this helps to clarify it for you

Yes it does. Thank you all very much. I have a good feeling about this bass coming tomorrow! Can't wait for the hardware...

Still can't be sure from the photos.

Two things bother me:
I can see no pores in any of the close-up photos; even when the pores have been filled, remnants of the pore structure are usually visible with mahogany.
I saw blotching in the close-up photos; mahogany isn't a blotch-prone species.

If it were a diffuse-porous hardwood, like maple, or a gymnosperm, like alder, that would explain the absence of observable pores and well as the blotching.

As soon as I get the Black hardware I just ordered, I'll post new pics. Took it to rehearsal last night and it sounded like no other bass I've played. Pretty amazing. Definitely not Alder.

Black 3-D Schaller bridge installed. Looks nice. Sounds the same. Waiting on the right side keys.
Bought a new but same preamp. (Old one is farting-out and light doesn't work.) These are wonderful, darkish sounding, 2-band pre's. Very similar to Bartolini.
I doweled the 3 bridge holes I needed and drilled into them. I forgot to take the shavings for inspection, damn.
I think when I install the new preamp, I'll drill a 1/8" hole in the control cavity to get some samples.
