XL Bass Pickups
So...I'm thinking of doing an 8-string multiscale (34-37") bass. The only thing I'm having a hard time with is the pickups.
I need a sensor width of about 135mm. I can't find any that long. I've seen a lot of builds with super-long pickups, so are they all custom 1-off units? Where the heck do these things come from?

I've seen them on the Aero pickups website, but there are probably other manufacturers that also do extra long widths too,

Bill Lawrence makes steel guitar pickup all the way out to 12 string, so I doubt yours would be a problem.

There are several pickups makers willing to make them big enough for your needs... but I think some of them could ask for a lot of time and money.
If you don't find a solution feel free to drop me a line, I'll try to help. :)

Most all are custom. You could probably use a set of Lace Alumitone 9 or 10 string guitar pickups if you wanted 'off the shelf'.

^ the biggest one they make is a Deathbucker 5.0, which is 1/4" too narrow.

I know for sure that Delano makes custom pickups for ERBs but no idea of cost and delivery time.
You could always run two four string pickups kinda p style if it worked with the design...

If it was me id just make them.
50k feet of 42 awg (approx 1lb) wire goes for close to 35 $.
Magnets are super cheap if you know where to look.
Then all you need is a top and bottom plate and a cover.
What about making a multicoil- pickup? One coil for each string.
