Amtrak no checked baggage?
 

Hey so i was not sure were to post this because it is about traveling but I know that is also an issue when auditioning so here it goes.

I need to travel from ny to canada on Amtrak with my bass (chadwick folding bass). The problem is that the Amtrak website says no checked baggage. Anyone else gone through this before and is it ok if I take my bass in the train? I heard amtrak is not as strict as airlines when it comes to baggage limits.

I've taken my double bass on the Amtrak before from Milwaukee to Chicago and had no real issues. I also bought two tickets. I've got a feeling the mke chi line is a lot less busy than the one your taking though so it'd be best to call ahead of time and make sure you can do it

Last time I rode the train with luggage was about 10 years ago. If I recall correctly there is some space at the front and rear for large bags. Might want to call and verify.

Yeah I heard you can buy two tickets and they will let you take it.... but I am trying not to do that. Is it true there is space for oversized baggage at the back of the train?

I've taken a bass from Boston to Philadelphia and back at least 10 times with minimal difficulty. Use caution when traveling around big holidays, as you'll want to put your bass in the front of a car with handicap seating, and sit in front of it. These areas fill up with luggage around Christmas and the last thing you want is a 100lb suitcase rolling over on your ax...

Yeah you could leave it at the very front of the car. I'd still call ahead of time. Always rather safe than sorry yeah?
