Audition winners WIKI page

A place for everyone to keep an updated list of winners and other information about auditions.

Bravo! The KPO Audition Winners list was probably one of the more important documents about bass auditions winners, but its usefulness and 1990s discussion board format has come and gone. Job wikis are much more effective (faster, but more prone to bad info and mean info) and have been for a long time used by musicians applying to be music professors in order to keep track of job search results (mostly music theory/musicology/composition but occasionally applied music, too). I think the wiki should become more inclusive of foreign jobs and part-time jobs, something the KPO list tended to leave off. Maybe it should go farther back in time, as well?

People can add whatever they have time and energy to add, like foreign jobs and older winners. Start adding some and others will probably join up....

Scrolling to the bottom and seeing that number next to IU just warmed my heart.

Yeah, but maybe some people would prefer to stay anonymous....
not sure if its a good idea list people who are not interested.
unless they wish to list themselves..... ?
though, clearly there haven't been any complaints....

The info in the wiki is no different than what is in the decade old audition thread, it's just an easier way to maintain a list. Besides, if somebody wins a professional audition, it's not exactly some kind of confidential activity.

Winning a major audition is the antithesis of confidentiality.

it would be great to keep track of audition rep like this: Worldwide Symphony Orchestra Audition Repertoire

as well. I could have sworn that there was a "most popular audition rep" sort of list somewhere, but my google-fu is not as strong as i had hoped. I will continue to search. I think it is the sort of thing that would be very useful.

There's nothing wrong with confidentiality, but to a certain point that's impossible- most major orchestras will have their bassists post a bio on their website, which usually contains their educational information... So in a way it's public domain, unless the particular bassist has a problem being listed here.

Should we add all full time orchestral positions, regional orchestras, etc?
Or just "major" orchestras, which are...what?...off the top 20 DG list?

Wasn't this basically a list of ICSOM winners until recently?

Basically, until people started adding big foreign orchestras and random other jobs
