British Auditions

Hi, I was wondering if our British colleagues might comment on how auditions are held by British orchestras.

Are the concerto first movements heard in their entirety? (like in Germany)

Do you play behind a screen?

Do you use orchestral tuning? piano accompaniment?

Do they still have on-the-job trials for the finalists?

Thanks in advance for your input !

Rod

Hey!
I dont think they necessarily hear all your first movement. It depends on if they feel they need to hear anymore than they have. - although usually they will hear at least most of it...
Only some auditions are behind a screen - but i think you will be told about that before the audition, its still relatively new to do screened auditions.

After you audition, they will usually pick a few people and ask them back for trials , everyone starts off with perhaps a week and then if they let someone go they might re-trial and if they let someone else go the cycle continues until they find the one they like or they just re audition again.....

Hope this is of any help!
