Don't worry guys I'm sure some people were invited directly to the finals on January.

There were 5 or so people that passed on out of 32 auditionees (I heard this directly from a committee member). I also heard a rumor that Bert Witzel was among the finalists.

I've heard that LeBron James is taking his talents to the Chicago symphony orchestra since he has nowhere else to work, can anyone confirm this?

I also heard that Terrell Owens showed up for the pre-lim.

I heard that Michael Jordan is coming out of retirement for the audition. As is Charlie Sheen.

Bert Witzel of the Louisville Orchestra passed to the finals as did Richard Ryan from Kansas City (formerly Louisville) as well as a "prominent german chamber musician". There will be 10 people in total invited back for the audition as I heard from friend of mine has a relative on the panel. Sadly Michael Jordan didn't make it but I heard his audition was a real slam dunk...

Colin Corner? He seemed to be doing well in auditions.

Are you referring to Charlie Nilles? I remember him being one of the Cleveland finalists last year.

Alex Hanna apparently got enough votes for a trial week in March, and a final decision will be made then. Congrats to him for "winning" the job for the second time.

Was there a "winner" the first time?

A trial week is not a win.

I hope he wins principal of The New York Philharmonic.

This industry needs four major post positions 'tied up' by one individual.

Cheers!

Supposedly he was the top candidate at the same audition last year but for one reason or another Muti didn't want to hire him (hence the quotes). Hopefully he does get the position, but I assume it's pretty likely now.
